Well, it's been quite awhile since we've had an update, and we will conduct a complete update once we have some more time. Some highlights to look forward to include: a Cornell graduation, a two-week trip to Dallas, which included niece Halle's birthday, a fish fry with Papa Martinez, and our first night away from Lilly Anna. Other highlights include packing our apartment in Ithaca, saying goodbye and crushing breakfast burritos at the world famous Ithaca Farmers Market, and moving to New York City. And oh by the way, our amazing daughter also cut her first two teeth, began crawling, began pulling up, and even began standing by herself (for a milli-second). And she can say "Da-da". Not that I'm a proud father or anything.
All of these feats and experiences will be documented at some point. However, we took a couple days off from the unpacking and embarked upon a short trip up to Maine, to a little town called Ogunquit, just south of Kennebunkport, and we wanted to document the trip.
We took Lilly Anna to the beach for the first time today. She took a little while to warm up to the whole concept of sitting in sand and getting wet when the tide came in (which was quite shocking since the ocean water temperature in Maine is frigid, even in July). However, she enjoyed the sand enough to start digging her fingers in, and proceeded to get covered in it. (Note LA's cute 1920's style bloomers swimsuit -- Beth and I actually got this for her when we were in Ogunquit last summer).
Here she is demonstrating her natural artistic ability; note the strategically placed seaweed, representing the calm and order of the ocean, contrasted with the chaotic imprints of her clawing hand, meant to represent the unforgiving nature of the sea. An artiste' already...
This was after the high tide began; the water managed to come up and just barely touch her outstretched feet, but it was enough to get this kind of reaction out of Lilly Anna:
And look what happened when the water actually made it up to her bottom:
Note for all those calling CPS right now: Dad was sitting in front of Lilly Anna, which means I got the full brunt of the waves and anything she experienced, I got 3x as bad. Plus Lilly Anna is an experienced swimmer -- 6 "lessons" at the Ithaca YMCA and we were ready to give her a floating noodle and pick her up after Beth & I went to brunch, but then we thought better of it.
Tune in tomorrow, as we document Lilly Anna's first body-surfing experience! (It's never too early to start 'em on the boogie board)

YEAH!!! I've been waiting for new pics! Can't wait to see more! The pics of LA are hilarious!
Perm, real nice recap. I heard she also pulled a titleist out of a whale's blowhole. You are raising her as a junior marine biologist, I presume? I must say that the pictures of her crying make me laugh, so what does that say about me as a future father? I'll tell you what. It means that Stein is printing me 7 "World's Greatest Dad" ringer T's right now. One half-sleeve for Sundays. Also, will you invite me to Martha's Vineyard one weekend, Bernie Madoff?
